PROJECT

Rekindling Trap + Bankhead
Studio Fall 2021 | Herman Howard
In collaboration with Julia Leftwich and Andres Troncoso

The site is located near the westside connector known as the kudzu trail in Bankhead. The project consists of three parts: a bridge that connects the Georgia Tech community to Bankhead  and the Trap Music Museum, the expansion of the Trap Music Museum, and multi-use and residential units  around the area. I was in charge of the design for the museum. Our goal for the museum was to separate its different programs- which include exhibition spaces, escape rooms, a restaurant and bar, and creators’ spaces for artists and musicians. Therefore the museum consists of two buildings, the existing old building is used as the creators' space and a larger new building for more public uses. This creates several entrances that can be accessed from the bridge and the connector, opening up the museum to public spaces around it.
